This could be the beginning I don’t know, but onward as we march through darkness there is a sense of new days, fresh challenges and a feeling of happily running bursting with excitement at what joy we can achieve.

Heroic deeds 007 and all that, with a name like James I’m sure achievement is easier for with the letter J in your first name it matches so readily with the starting letter of a surname for example “ HEY JT HOW GOES IT”. James is everyone’s friend strong determined, single minded, accomplished, startlingly good looking, intelligent and brave. Is it any wonder James would have been my first name by choice and not hidden as a middle name bursting to get out?

The need to explore is why I began this book, to discover why there was a fanfare for a common man and to share his journey through life at the turn of the last millennium. I read once that art critics find their greatest joy in discovering the artist who paints as a child having had no formal tuition, the same can be said I’m sure for musicians self taught and yet able to produce works of beauty. So my aim is to do likewise with the written word to create through lack of knowledge, understanding and tutoring a work of art so impressive it will be like Shakespeare meeting the Thunderbirds and the ensuing need to rescue literature will begin.


It is at this point I must use the word PREFACE as this is the first part of my literary extravaganza. I made a conscious decision to place this word within this paragraph rather than leave it at the top of the page, once a rebel always a rebel the heroic deeds are tumbling forth already. So if you believe in a life began two thirds of the way through the 1900’s then let’s explore from the man landing on the moon to the inception of the lottery and beyond.

I dedicate this book to Michael, Geraldine, Paul and Tony. I end the list there in-case you believe it be dangerous to know me, to heroes old and new and yet to be discovered I salute you and all who sail with you.

With February just around the corner what better time to write my book, I missed the opportunity in December which highlights some of the problem with my life. Missing things is an art form gained from years of life mismanagement akin to Pol Pot running a local branch of spec savers. Had I of began in December I could of included the odd snow flake, Christmas tree and snow white dove for the inevitable Christmas TV schedule the blockbuster movie of this book would hold.

Mortuary included to show the darker side of life moments, of deep despair hardened thoughts of failure and the inevitability of uncertainty in our direction and pace, as we strive to understand what the bloody hells going on and why we’re here at all. As someone once said we all know the speed of light 299 792 458 m / s obviously and yet no research has been undertaken into the speed of darkness. This book will exam that fact and hopefully shed light on what is dark to create a dawning of a new awareness before diving back into the dusk and hiding from reality in our own twilight zone.
